LETTERS OF ROGATORY

This method is the slowest of the international mechanisms available and should only be undertaken as an extreme last resort. Letters Rogatory are an official request for assistance from one court to another. There is no treaty to govern handling, process or time limits and once transmitted, the process rests entirely within the purview of the foreign court with no domestic recourse.
